Tonight was Isaac's last soccer game. The soccer season is officially over now for the Workman family. It has been a good experience for the kids. Issac was three this year in a four year old league. He had his moments where he would chase and kick the ball, but for the most part wasn't too interested. Tonight he spent a good portion of the game with his arms held out to the side, and would spin his body down the field like a helicopter. At one point the little girls on the team started doing cartwheels. He tried to join into the gymnastics action by standing on his hands and kicking his feet up into the air like a donkey. It certainly wasn't soccer, but he appeared to be having fun, and at least he was within the lines on the field which is more than I can say for about five of his teammates.

As for the girls, they have been bugging us for the past two years about how bad they wanted to play soccer. I warned them that to be good at soccer they had to be aggressive and be willing to get in there and push and kick with the other kids. I told them they couldn't be shy out there, and it required a lot of hustle. I doubted their assurances to me that they could live up to all that. I am surprised to say they exceeded my expectations. Emma especially, she never finished a game without her face the color of a deep shade of purple. She would out-hustle everyone out there. As for the aggressiveness, she never let anyone push her around out there. She even got an unsportsmanlike penalty on one occasion for returning an elbow that the refs didn't see her receive to a boy that was about 6 inches taller than her. I couldn't have been prouder!
