Strawberry Season.........
I love when the strawberries are in season. It's so strange here though because everything is about a month later than I'm used to: the azaleas, dog woods, cherry blossoms, and now the strawberries in late June! We're just a little slow here in New England. The kids had a great time eating and picking. I say eating first because I think we did more of that than actual picking. Isaac was really into it. In fact, he almost got left. The rest of us finished, weighed and paid, and loaded in the car, and then realized we were one short on the head count....Isaac was still picking.

Then we came home and did a little of this. My kids eat a TON of strawberry jam, so hopefully we made enough to get us by for a little while.
We took Emma to the airport last Thursday to go to Utah. Grandma got her all checked in and dropped off at BYU yesterday for her swim camp this week. I talked to her on the phone last night, she's having the time of her life: loves her counselor, roomate, all the activites, etc. I'm trying my hardest to keep life here at home fun this week to ease Sarah's pain of not going.
Adam is in NC this week teaching a course. On Wednesday he is going to visit his brother, Eli, who is serving a mission there, and comes home next week. It's been 4 years since Adam's seen him (since before Japan) and now w/Adam going to Iraq, it wouldn't be till next year that they'd see eachother, so Eli's mission president was very nice about Adam visiting.
For those of you that haven't heard, Adam's going to Iraq on Aug. 11 for about 7 months. The reality of it is starting to sink in and I'm getting a little nervous. I wish I could say we were having a great summer vacationing and playing, but I feel like every spare second is being filled w/trying to get projects done and things ready for him to leave. Last week I got a lesson on the riding lawn mower. It is a tight fit backing it up a ramp and back into the shed though....it may spend this winter outside the shed w/a tarp over it.

Strawberry jam is my favorite! We just planted strawberries for the first time this year in our garden. I hope they turn out!

After getting all my produce free on the farm, paying to pick and freeze berries is really hard for me, but that looks sooooo good.

I really feel for your family since you are loosing dad for 7 months! Very scarey, and also such lonely parenting. Luckily you are so handy. If anyone could make it keeping everything going without a man around for a month, you can.

Beck- Is Adam going to call us? I don't know how to get ahold of him... give him our number! We'd love to have him over for dinner!

You are making me so worn out with all of that jam. It looks so good though. You are one of the funnest moms I know,

That reminds me so much of picking strawberries in Arkansas! Did you ever do that with us?

I had no idea Adam was leaving! What will he be doing? You are a strong woman Becky...I admire you!

okay 1st im sooo sad to hear about adam leaving?!?!? our friend used his webcam to have dinner & scripture reading with the kids (he was a dr-so his hours were workable)--that really helped my friend-especially when she'd say "what till daddy's on the laptop!" too funny-
