26.2!

Adam and I got away in a little vaca to Little Rock this past weekend to run the Little Rock marathon. We lived in LR when the girls were little and Adam was in law school, and we hadn't been back since. Jeannie my mother-in-law came and watched the kids. THANK YOU Jeannie!

The look on Adam's face here says it all! 26.2 miles is just a little long. He did awesome though, finishing in 3hrs 32 min. I ran the half marathon instead of the full this time, it was great! Still exhausting, gut wrenching, but I still felt like a human being after--could walk, smile, etc. It was a lot of fun to finish before Adam and be able to cheer him across the finish line.

Any comments on this picture? I'm sure I'll get a few....
We visited Chenal Park, the apartment complex we lived in our first year. Didn't look like anything had changed!
Somehow Adam managed to hike up Pinnacle mountain with me the morning after the race, one of our favorite things to do while living there. This was one of the girls' favorite picture spots.

We visited the Clinton Library, which is new since we left. I'm in some serious deep thought about the oval office....

Pres. Clinton's limo that took 3 years to build.
We popped in UALR school of law just for old times sake. We had run by it on the race, and also the geese outside that almost got Emma's entire index finger while eating a subway dinner with Adam during finals his first year....

We walked along the river trail. They have built a new pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Arkansas River, right over the lock and dam (which lets barges through). The weather was amazing, 70 degrees. It smelled like spring, looked like spring...we didn't want to come home. It's still winter in Newport.

Adam's home!!
Finally, after getting stuck in the Atlanta snow, he finally arrived last night! All I can say is, better than any Christmas!!!!! I keep waiting to wake up....hoping this is real!Above: Emma's to the left in this pic yelling because Sarah just ripped the banner. Isaac, assessing the situation.

The kids were ECSTATIC!
One big, happy family.
Waiting for the luggage. That took a few minutes, the tug got stuck in the snow.

The crew announced on the plane that Adam was returning from 7 months in Iraq, and the plane all clapped for him, which of course drew WAY more attention to himself than he would have appreciated. He tried to be the last one off the plane, and several people stopped and thanked the kids and I for his service. Totally nice, made me cry before he even got off. The girls felt like rocks stars and loved it. I really need them to go to at least a half-day of school today, after having all 5 home yesterday because of snow, but then we're going to check them out and go to lunch at the Chinese Buffet.
Ok, so I knew I was at the end of my rope, and I missed Adam like crazy, but hadn't realized how much!! It is SOO...I can't even come up w/a word good enough....to have him home!!!
